Web design in Ellon, for work that runs north as well as into Aberdeen.
Ellon sits on the A90 with the city one way and Buchan the other. Plenty of businesses here work both directions, and a website pointed at only one of them quietly gives away the rest.
Talk About Your Site →Ellon is a junction, and most websites here only face one way.
The A90 runs south to Aberdeen and north to Peterhead and Fraserburgh. Where your work comes from along that road ought to change what the website says, and usually it does not.
Aberdeen and the commute
Ellon is about sixteen miles out, and there is a park and ride on the edge of town for people doing that run daily. Some of your customers live here and spend their working day somewhere else entirely.
You are competing with city firms who are physically closer to the customer.
Peterhead, Fraserburgh and between
Head the other way and the towns get further apart and the competition thins out. Aberdeen firms are often unwilling to travel it, which leaves the work to whoever is visibly prepared to come out.
Here the question is not who is best. It is who is obviously willing to turn up.
What an Ellon website has to be clear about.
Same standards as everything else we build. What follows is what the road either side of the town changes about it.
- Says how far north you go, because "Ellon and surrounding areas" tells somebody in Methlick or Pitmedden nothing useful.
- Treats the Buchan work and the Aberdeen work as different jobs, rather than one page that half suits both.
- Works properly on a phone, because with no station here almost everybody arrives by road and looks you up from the cab.
- Puts the enquiry route where a driver can hit it without reading three paragraphs first.
- Shows the work, not the stock photography, because a town this size checks.
The general case for what we build is on web design in Aberdeen. If you are a trade covering a wide patch from a van, websites for trades is the closer fit.
"Ellon and surrounding areas" is not a service area.
It is the most common line on a website in this part of the shire, and it answers nothing. Somebody in Methlick, Pitmedden or Newburgh reads it and still has to ring to find out whether you come to them, which is a phone call you may not get.
Naming the places you cover is not a small detail. It settles the question for the reader, and it gives a search engine something specific to match against when somebody nearby is looking. Vague coverage is the easiest thing on a website to fix and one of the least often fixed.
Actively working to rank for those places is a separate job with its own pricing, covered on SEO.
Up the road, not on the doorstep.
We are in Westhill. Ellon is a straightforward run and we are happy to make it when meeting helps.
We are not going to pretend to be local to Ellon, because you would find out and it would be the first thing you stopped trusting. What we will say is that none of the work depends on it. The old railway through here is a walking route now, so everything and everyone arrives by road anyway, ours included. Call 07577 796931 or send us the details.
Three fixed project prices, published in full, and the same figure whichever end of the A90 you are on.
See Website Prices →What Ellon businesses ask first.
Are you based in Ellon?
No. We are in Westhill and we work across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, Ellon included. We are not going to invent a local office. If sitting down together is useful we will drive up. If it is not, none of what gets built changes because we did it over a video call instead.
Most of my work is up in Buchan, not Aberdeen. Does that change anything?
It changes quite a lot. If Peterhead and Fraserburgh are where the work is, then a site pointed at Aberdeen is aimed at the wrong end of the A90, and the pages need to say plainly how far north you actually come. That is a different build from one chasing city customers, and it is worth deciding which you want before anything gets made.
I get everything by word of mouth. Is a website worth it?
Sometimes not, and we will say so. Word of mouth still ends with somebody looking you up before they ring, so the question is usually whether what they find helps or gets in the way. If your name travels well and the work keeps coming, that is a reason to spend carefully rather than a reason to spend more.
What does it cost?
Three fixed project prices, published in full on our web design prices page. The figure does not change because you are up the road, and there is no travel charge built into it.
Tell us which way your work comes from.
North, south, or a bit of both. That one answer changes what the site should say and which pages are worth building. Tell us and we will tell you what we would do, including if the answer is less than you expected.
Talk About Your Site →Tell us what the site needs to do.
What you do, how far you travel for it, and what the current site does or does not do. That is enough for a useful first conversation.
