Missed call text back · Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire

Miss the call. Keep the customer.

You are up a ladder or under a sink when the phone goes. You cannot always answer, and some callers will not wait. A text keeps the conversation open and gives you a chance to pick it up when you are free.

The call you could not take

Same missed call, two different endings.

What happens now
  • The phone goes while your hands are full.
  • It rings out. Often there is no voicemail.
  • You ring back later, when you get a minute.
  • Sometimes they have already sorted it.
What happens instead
  • The phone goes while your hands are full.
  • The caller gets a text from your business asking what they need.
  • They reply while it is still on their mind.
  • You pick it up when you are free, knowing who to ring first.

Some callers will ring back anyway. This simply gives the others somewhere to reply.

What changes

You stop starting from a list of unknown numbers.

  • The caller gets a response. A text from your business, in your words, asking what they need — rather than a ring-out and silence.
  • They can answer when it suits them. Typing takes them a few seconds and does not need you free at the same moment.
  • You know what they need, not just their number. What it is, roughly where, and how urgent, so the callback is a short one.
  • You know who to ring first. Somebody who replied about a leak comes before the one asking about next spring.

The wording is yours. We write it to sound like you rather than like a system.

Who it suits

Anybody whose hands are busy when the phone rings.

Plumbers, electricians, joiners, builders, roofers, landscapers, garages, mobile and home-service businesses across Westhill, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

It doesn't replace answering the phone, and it isn't an answering service. It's for the calls you genuinely can't take. Call 07577 796931 or send us the details.

Common questions

What people ask before setting this up.

Will it annoy people?

It should not, because they have just rung you. The text says who it is from and asks what they need, which reads as somebody getting back to them rather than as marketing. What annoys people is silence.

Is it allowed to text somebody who has called?

The UK rules draw the line at promotional content. A text that simply answers somebody who has just rung you is not a marketing message, so we keep the wording to that and the number is not used for anything else. For certainty about your own setup, take your own advice.

What if the call is urgent?

Then a text is not the answer, and it should say so. We word it so somebody with an emergency knows to ring again rather than sitting waiting on a reply.

Do I have to change my number?

No. It works with the number you already give out and already have on the van. If your particular setup will not allow it, we will tell you that before you commit to anything rather than after.

Roughly how many you miss in a week, and what you do about them at the moment. That is enough for a useful first conversation.
